Is There Really a Difference Between Premium Hearing Aids and Basic Hearing Aids and Is It Worth the Investment?
The most common question asked about hearing aids is “How much do hearing aids cost?”, and the answer to this is not just a dollar amount. If you are an individual who is a candidate for hearing aids, ask yourself the following questions… Why am I here? What are my expectations for my hearing? If I pursue hearing aids, what are the changes and results I want to see?
Hearing aids are medical grade devices that give back the missing components of better brain and hearing health. They are NOT amplifiers. They have the capabilities to do much more, and with the advancements in technology the control over the changes and adaptations we have can vary among different technology levels. Which brings us to the question…. Is there really a difference between PREMIUM and BASIC technology? The short answer is YES.
The higher up in technology the more automatic, adaptability, and features the hearing aids will have. We will always recommend the highest level of technology (e.g., premium) to anyone and here is why.
Two people with the same hearing loss can walk in the front door. We will fit different hearing aids and/or technology levels, depending on their lifestyle and differing needs. Regardless, no matter what, we will always recommend premium level technology to everyone.
Why do we do this? We know that premium technology has the most advanced features. Let’s take these two individuals, say that one that goes to a restaurant once a year and the other goes 100 times a year, we have the confidence that each individual will succeed in the challenging environment no matter what!
This does not mean someone with lower technology will not succeed; however, we are limited to the adaptability and control we have over the hearing aids. This is why we should not limit ourselves and opt for the premium option.
