Custom Fit Hearing Aids
Know About Custom Fit Hearing Aids
With another wave of Covid-19 sweeping the nation, masks are here to stay, and that means facing an unanticipated challenge for hearing aid users: losing the hearing aids when taking off facemasks.
Traditionally, many hearing aid users would opt for behind-the-ear (BTE) style hearing aids for a variety of reasons such as appearance, rechargeability, or Bluetooth connectivity. However, with masks being yet another accessory worn behind the ears, we are seeing a trend of individuals leaning more towards custom in-the-ear (ITE) style hearing aids.
The great news is that many ITE styles can now be rechargeable AND can have Bluetooth connectivity. Custom fit hearing aids are made by taking an impression in the user’s ear and sending it off to the manufacturer to have a custom hearing aid created. These completely custom fit hearing aids are available in a variety of sizes and technology levels, making them a viable option for nearly any degree or configuration of hearing loss.
Not only do custom fit hearing aids offer a comfortable fit, switching into a custom fit hearing aid no longer means you need to compromise on the features you have fallen in love with on your BTE hearing aids.
Custom hearing aids are now fully equipped with all the same Bluetooth features you love. You will still be able to use your smartphone to control the hearing aids, and you will even be able to stream phone calls and media right through your custom devices.
Not ready to dive into Bluetooth just yet? That’s fine! We can integrate volume control directly into the hearing aids, or maybe adding a remote control would be best for you! We can even offer you rechargeable batteries in the custom hearing aids. Simply place the hearing aids in the case for them to charge overnight (Watch how it works here), and you’ll have a full 24 hour’s worth of battery life to keep you in the loop all day long.
We are living in unprecedented times, but we don’t want that to stop you from feeling connected to your loved ones. Custom fit hearing aids are a great option for those who have stopped wearing hearing aids because of the masks or for anyone looking for a change. Let us know how we can help you hear better, because when you hear better, you feel better!
“It was in my undergraduate years that I realized my passion for bringing the gift of sound to those who felt isolated and without hope. It is my philosophy that each patient leaves every appointment feeling as though they have a better understanding of the problem we are tackling together, and they have hope for positive outcomes.” – Eileen Clark, Audiologist
I would love to try an aid like this, but do not feel I can afford the change right now. I do find the behind the ear one a real nuisance with the mask and have had problems with the mask getting caught on the device. I do not wear the aids all the time since I can hear OK unless with those who speak softly or in a large group.
Hey Joan, I understand the frustration with the mask. In the meantime, you could try a mask that connects behind your neck like this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/900780498/velcro-face-mask-royal-blue-solid-color?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=mask+behind+neck&ref=sr_gallery-1-2&organic_search_click=1&cns=1
I will most likely be in the market to purchase new hearing aids next year. I am always on the lookout for the latest technology that is available for my level of hearing loss.
Hey Christine, It’s incredible what they can do now. I would say that minor feature releases happen twice a year and major innovation about every 2 years. It might be fun to come in next year for a consult and actually try on a pair of new tech to see how it actually sounds to you.
I have been a customer of Levine Hearing since 2017 and cannot be more happy with their services. Madison and her team are true professionals at taking care of your hearing needs. I have never been disappointed whenever my hearing aids have needed cleaning or adjustments.
A visited the office this summer and was relived to hear that I do not have hearing loss. I appreciated the safety measures Madison ans her staff observed during my appointment. I highly recommend this place.
Hi Tandy! Thank you so much for your comment. You are a great example of why a baseline test can give you great peace of mind. Now, we also have something to compare to in the future if you ever notice changes to your hearing.
Making this transition to needing hearing aids at 58 has been a challenge especially emotionally. Madison & Eileen & Maggie have been so patient and really understanding of my concerns & problem solving to get me the best solution. I’ll be recommending Levine Hearing for sure!
Thank you for sharing, Kathy. It’s emotional no matter which way you slice it but I bet most patients agree that once they move forward they only wish they had done it sooner. We are so happy to get to help you!
