Meet Our Team
Madison Levine
Specialist / Founder
As a second-generation professional in hearing healthcare, I have followed in the steps of my mother, who purchased her own practice in my hometown of Macon, Georgia 30 years ago. I remember spending afternoons as a child, in the back office of my mother’s practice, watching the impact that better hearing had on the lives of her patients and their families.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia, joining a family tradition of UGA graduates. After managing two successful practice locations outside of Charlotte, I returned closer to home to open Levine Hearing, an independent practice in South Charlotte. Our independence allows us to work with a wide range of manufacturers and, more importantly, to be highly selective in choosing the best solutions tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
I am Nationally Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences—an elective certification that goes beyond the requirements of the state of North Carolina—because I believe that excellence in patient care begins with a commitment to continual learning and professional integrity.
As a thought leader in hearing healthcare, I have been honored to present nationally to my peers at the International Hearing Society Conference, HearWorld, Dr. Gyl’s WOW Retreat, and most recently as a TEDx speaker at TEDx Sugar Creek Women in Charlotte, NC. My talk, “The Ear Brain Connection,” reflects my passion for elevating hearing care as an essential component of overall health and cognitive longevity.
Over the years, that vision has guided the growth of Levine Hearing into a practice supported by a dedicated team of Audiologists and compassionate support staff who share a deep commitment to patient-centered care. It is one of my greatest honors to lead this remarkable team. Together, we strive to deliver an experience that is not only evidence-based and effective, but also deeply human and profoundly impactful.

Ellyn Grider
I've lived both in Illinois and Tennessee my whole life until relocating to North Carolina in 2022. I completed my Bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2010 at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Following a brief teaching career in Clarksville, Tennessee, I spent a year taking the necessary prerequisite audiology coursework at Tennessee State University in Nashville.
I earned my Doctor of Audiology degree at Northern Illinois University. I completed numerous clinical rotations at the on-site university clinic and various private practices and hospitals. There, I gained experience working with diverse patient populations representing all ages, from newborn to geriatric. I specialize in comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aids, tinnitus management, vestibular diagnostic and treatment, cochlear implants, auditory processing disorders, and auditory brainstem response testing.
Renee Shumaker
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders with a minor in English at The University of Alabama. I continued my training at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I earned my Master of Arts in Audiology.
Throughout my clinical internships and professional roles, I have gained extensive experience in hearing healthcare, encompassing diagnostic evaluations, amplification, counseling, and long-term patient management. My background includes work with patients of all ages, and I have spent the past 30 years serving the Charlotte community through clinical care, patient advocacy, and education. Outside the office, I am a devoted mother to two adult children, who remain my greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. I am also a lifelong Alabama football fan, a lover of live music, and someone who deeply values family, faith, and community. I am grateful for the opportunity to help people reconnect with the world they value most. There is nothing more meaningful than watching someone light up when hearing clearly again. Every patient brings a unique story, and partnering with each person on that journey remains the most rewarding part of my work.
